The Hybrid Paramedic Training Program is a full-time program designed to prepare participants to provide advanced life support skills to patients in a pre-hospital environment.
This program is structured with synchronous didactic meetings and a weekly in-person skills lab on Thursdays to facilitate work-life balance.
Participants will receive training in patient assessment, history and physical examination, medical emergency and trauma management, intravenous therapy, advanced pharmacology, advanced airway management, cardiology, obstetrical and gynecological emergencies, and hazardous materials (Haz-Mat) management. (Total didactic hours approximately 526 hrs.)
The Paramedic Program also includes several advanced certifications, including:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS -AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS - AHA)
- Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS - NAEMT)
- Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS - NAEMT)
- EMT-Basic Refresher Course
Additional conferences and experiences may be available to the student as well, including but not limited to:
- Critical care exposure, both air and ground
- Access to Continuing Education offered by the Education Center
Participants will complete at least 300 clinical experiences at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Level 1 Trauma Center) and its affiliated hospitals and a 500-hour field internship with surrounding providers. Additional clinical hours may be added or required based on individual needs.
Didactic classes are online and must be completed before the weekly lab session. Lab session is 8a-4p
Clinical rotations are self-scheduled on alternate days based on clinical site and personal availability.
**Course Tuition: TBD. Last year's cost $14,000.00**
$500 discount for full payment on or before Day 1 of class.
Quarterly payment plan available.
This course is not eligible for VA benefits.

Pre-Requisites
- You must maintain your current certification as an EMT–Basic in Pennsylvania (reciprocity available)
- You must apply for PA reciprocity before the start of the course. Reciprocity is due within 60 days of class start.
- 911 Experience is preferred. Please provide a recommendation from your EMS supervisor.
- You must maintain current CPR for Healthcare Provider certification
- You must be age 18 or older
- You must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- College level Anatomy & Physiology I & II (or concurrent enrollment)
- Required to be completed by 12/19/2024
- We can assist you in finding a course.
- You must pass a criminal background check (participants may not have been convicted of a felony)
- You must obtain a Child Abuse Clearance from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- You must have current health insurance
- Current Flu Shot per Hospital policy
- COVID-19 Vaccination per University policy

Admission to the Paramedic Program is competitive.
The admission selection process will include a computer-based exam, completion of an NREMT EMT practical skill station, a personal interview, and evaluation of references.
