The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) training course is designed to prepare participants to provide basic emergency medical care to sick and injured patients. EMTs perform patient assessment, bandaging, oxygen administration, splinting, and spinal immobilization. EMTs provide medical care in various settings, including hospitals, emergency ambulance services, non-emergency transport services, and other public safety settings such as police, fire departments, and security agencies.
This online course meets weekly on Saturdays for 15 weeks, from 10 am to 3 pm, for mandatory practical skills instruction. Additional mandatory dates to attend the am class will be required for PA DOH's orientation and exit interviews. In addition, you are required to obtain a student ID badge within an announced strict time frame.

Pre-Requisites:
- Be 18 years of age or older
- High school and college transcripts are required before your pretest is scheduled.
- Be able to write and read English and complete a timed reading comprehension exam.
- Have a criminal background check completed for the Pennsylvania Department of Health by the Pennsylvania State Police. The Criminal History Check Link must be obtained and submitted to JEFFSTAT when taking your placement test.
- Students who are not legal residents of PA must obtain a criminal background check from their state of residence.
- Students who are not legal residents of PA must obtain a criminal background check from their state of residence. Complete a PA EMT application for our records. The PDF is an online fillable form located within the documents you need for your registration process.
- PA Child Abuse Clearance (IdentoGo) must be obtained and submitted to JEFFSTAT 30 days before class begins. FBI Fingerprint Background Check – the Identogo code is 1KG756 – Employee >= 14 years contact with children.
Tuition:
The $250 registration fee is deducted from the $2,200 tuition, leaving a balance of $1,950 - excluding the enrollment fee ($250 due at online registration), books, supplies, and uniforms.
Note: the enrollment fee is non-transferable and non-refundable.
JeffSTAT EMS Education Center is NOT eligible for Veterans Administration Educational Benefits. No other financial aid is available through the program.
Tuition Payment Plans:
Option 1: $1950 on the 1st day for full payment via check, credit card, or money order.
Option 2: $975 on the 1st day of class/balance to be paid in full on or before 30 days after
Option 3: $650 on the 1st day of class / $ 650 within or before 30 days, the balance of $650 to be paid in full on or before 60 days.
The exact dates for tuition payment will be emailed when the course is about to begin. A tuition agreement form will be emailed once you have been accepted into the program.

Do not purchase any items until you have completed your EMT pretest and have been accepted. The EMT pretest is part of your registration process. The pretest must be scheduled within three weeks of registration. As mentioned, failure to take the pretest within three weeks of your registration date will result in your removal from the roster. The test consists of Math, Biology, Medical Terminology, and Anatomy & Physiology (Basic).
This course requires a score of 72% on the pretest.
